Description and operation

Description

BI-FUNCTION

Definition

–	A headlamp with integrated functions of high and low beam

–	The light is controlled by rotating the shield inserted to the lens. (A solenoid is adopted.)

Structure and mechanism

–	When working as a low beam : The light illuminates to the restricted area of low beam by blocking the light with the stopped shield.

–	When working as a high beam : The light is not blocked by the open shield and the light illuminates to the area of high beam.

Repair procedures

Removal

1.	Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

2.	Remove the front bumper assembly. (Refer to Body - "Front Bumper Assembly")

3.	Remove the diagnosis connector (A).

4.	Disconnect the headlamp connector (A).

Remove the headlamp (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

Be careful not to damage the retaining clips (A).

6.	Disconnect the headlamp connector (A).

Installation

1.	Install in the reverse order of removal.

Replacement

Bulb

[Low beam]

1.	Remove the headlamp assembly.

2.	Remove the dust caps (A) after turning in the counterclockwise direction.

3.	Disconnect the low beam bulb connector (A).

4.	Remove the low beam socket (A) after turning in the counterclockwise direction.

5.	Install in the reverse order of removal.

[High beam]

1.	Remove the headlamp assembly.

2.	Remove the dust cap (A) after turning in the counterclockwise direction.

3.	Remove the high beam socket (A) after turning in the counterclockwise direction.

4.	Remove the high beam bulb (A) from the connector.

5.	Install in the reverse order of removal.

Moisture absorbent

1.	Turn the headlamp switch off.

2.	Remove the dust cap (A) by rotating in the counterclockwise.

3.	Remove the moisture absorbent brakcet (A) from the dust cover after loosening the mounting screws (B).

4.	Remove the moisutre absorbent (A) from the dust cap (B).

5.	fold an new absorbent material as the picture below.

6.	Insert the moisture absorbent (A) with the folded sides up.

Tighten the mounting screws (B), after installing the miosture absorbent bracket (A).

Be careful of the installation direction of the moisture absorbent bracket.

8.	Install the dust cap (A) from the headlamp assembly after turning in the clockwise direction.
